Bridging the gap between rural South Carolina animal shelters and 501(c)(3)s to end unnecessary euthanasia

OUR MISSION

Journey Home Rescue Alliance is a South Carolina-based nonprofit committed to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia in overcrowded shelters. We provide safe, temporary foster homes, act as the dog's middle man, and coordinate transport to reputable rescue organizations across the East Coast. We are the matchmakers for dogs.

OUR JOURNEY IN NUMBERS

Since 2023, Journey Home Rescue Alliance has been making a measurable difference. These numbers help tell the story of lives we've touches, hope we've restored, and a mission in motion.

OCTOBER 2025

Sweet mama Olive and her seven adorable puppies are officially on their way to Monmouth County SPCA in New Jersey. Just weeks ago, this little family was in a desperate situation. Thanks to our community, they’re now safe, healthy, and headed toward loving homes.

Our team provided everything they needed to thrive. Food, supplies, medical exams, health certificates, dewormer, preventatives, probiotics, and, most importantly, compassionate foster homes who loved and cared for them every step of the way. Volunteers coordinated transport, drove hours to meet the paid transporter, and made sure Olive and her babies had a smooth and safe trip north.

A heartfelt thank you to Kaylynn, Jill, Shannon, Susan, and Christine for fostering this family back to health. And to Britt, who personally drove them from Greenville, SC all the way to New Jersey. Because of you, eight lives have a brand-new beginning.

FEBRUARY 2025

Betty spent years chained outside and forced to breed, leaving her pregnant, battling heartworm, and severely neglected. When she arrived at the shelter, her condition put her at immediate risk of euthanasia, until we stepped in to change her fate.

On Valentine's Day, a foster opened their home to her, giving Betty the safety and care she had never known. Just a few days later, she delivered 12 healthy puppies. Betty proved to be an attentive, loving, and resilient mother despite everything she had endured.

Today, Betty is thriving in a foster home in New Jersey, where she's receiving the medical treatment she needs for a full recovery. Her puppies are now available for adoption, each with a bright future ahead. Your support made this transition possible, turning Betty's story from hardship to healing and hope.

JANUARY 2025

We found Bear in awful shape. Emaciated, matted, and in desperate need of TLC, weighing only 30lbs. This pup was stranded along a highway, searching for food and water after fending for himself for far too long.

We rushed Bear to our amazing partners at Maddie’s Dog House & Mixson Mutts, and now, look at him today! He's a happy, healthy 3-year-old on the road to recovery.

DECEMBER 2024

This bonded pair of “land manatees” fell victim to difficult circumstances through no fault of their own when their owner's new partner turned out to be allergic. Surrendered back in May 2024, they lost the only home they'd ever known. Bear and Bama have been together their whole lives, from bottle babies to their current age of 6.

After 203 days in a South Carolina shelter, Bear and Bama found their forever home in New Hampshire!

Bonded pairs are especially hard to place. Many are forced to separate or wait endlessly in a shelter. But now, Bear and Bama get the happiness, stability, and loving home they truly deserve, together.

AUGUST 2024

During Tropical Storm Debby, Journey Home Rescue Alliance stepped up. Without a plan, we saved a momma and her 6 puppies stranded in a rural South Carolina construction site. We normally connect shelters with rescues, but we couldn’t say no when we got that urgent call.

With the help of our team (a big thanks to Emily Peugh!), we got them to safety. Momma Sunny cared for her puppies until they were strong enough to be weaned. She then went into foster with Lowcountry Lab Rescue where many adoption applications quickly came in.

The puppies, Blue, Orange, Grey, Teal, Elvis, and Striper, went into foster homes until they were 12 weeks old. Now, all 6 puppies have been adopted and are ready to start their second chances!
